Police Shoot at Van with Six Kids in Car

Ok, so I am filing this one under WTF as well because seriously, what the fuck is wrong with EVERY SINGLE ADULT in this story?

Please read the original story here courtesy of  KABC-TV LOS ANGELES, CA. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

Done? Great. Isn’t your mind absolutely blown?! There are so many things wrong with this story that I simply don’t know who to blame except for everyone. You might be thinking to yourself why I am not placing blame solely on the officers but I can’t.

WHAT MOTHER DRIVES OFF FROM A TRAFFIC STOP WITH HER KIDS IN THE CAR!? Seriously! That will NEVER end well, ever. All she was going to get was a speeding ticket. Why why whyyyy are you going to drive away and put  yourself in an even worse position with the police? Did she not think they would pursue? At this point if I am the officer, I would be thinking she is hiding something. That’s why you run. If this woman is taking off with kids in the car, are those kids even hers? Are they being trafficked? Were they kidnapped? Why run with them in the car if you were simply going to see the Rio Grande? I don’t get it. And she took off not once, but TWICE.

As for the officers, WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!! Shooting at a car with children inside, even if they were trying to shoot the tires out as they claim. What if you completely missed and hit a child!? But then, at the same time what if these children were being trafficked or kidnapped or something else horrible and the officers letting this woman go could have had an even worse outcome for these children?

I suppose we could go on about the what if’s here, you could say the woman was scared which is why she kept taking off, but I just don’t understand how one simply decides they’re going to drive away from a police officer and expect to go on their merry way like nothing happened.

There had to have been a better way besides shooting at the vehicle with children inside and I think that the officers should be punished. I also think the mother should be punished as well and charged with whatever they feel necessary because ultimately she put everyone in the situation to begin with by driving off. Had she not driven off, all she would have gotten was a ticket.

The woman now faces charges of abuse of a child, aggravated fleeing an officer, resisting an officer, reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her son (14) was charged with battery on a police officer.

Comments anyone?
